I bought this Manley gold reference microphone directly from Manley 6 months ago and was hoping to put her to use in my studio.
Here is the blurb from Manley, but if you are seriously looking at buying this mic, then you know exactly what it is and what it is capable of capturing and it needs no explanation. But it's what all the impressive technical expertise adds up to that really matters. The capsules The 3 micron gold diaphragm film is pensioned using proprietary techniques which ensures capsule to capsule constancy, combined with the speed, air and superb ultra high frequency response you dream about.
Boasting a dual tried USA military 6072a tube, the design and technical specifications of the gold reference mics are of the highest standards.
What you get with the gold reference mics is superb sound in a class by itself. 25 inch overall, 1 inch diaphragm diameter are Manley's own design the capsule rings and back plates are milled from solid brass and are mounted on Teflon insulator rings. Since then, I sold my studio and the building, and am selling off gear piece by piece. For sale here is a Manley laboratories gold reference mic new unopened in the box.
I never even cut the original packing tape. The polar pattern control is continuously variable between the Omani, caddied and figure 8 positrons.
