And oh it sounds so good. The SM5B has something that makes everyone sound great smooth, rich, unaffected by the over processing you get coming out of a broadcast signal. I have been an audio engineer to over 40 years, have sold several of these in the past few years, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better looking sm5. The metal yoke, body with original paint really don't show any wear or abuse, looks perfect inside and out.
The windscreens are brand new, as are the suspension bands. Those fat windscreen meant you get right up on it to capture all the rich vocal resonance get right up on it and talk directly into it without popping.
The SM5B is a relatively huge blimp like mic, with two large, two tone gray windscreens. I first used these in San Francisco radio in the early 70's and they are still one of the most sought after mics for broadcasters and voice over artists today.
They also perform very well in the recording studio, from delicate acoustic guitar, violin, most any electrified instrument. This one is super clean and near perfect. This beauty is next to new both physically and sound wise. Offering what is called one of the best voice over microphones ever made.
Look carefully. It also had a humbugging coil, which prevents the pickup of hum from all the various electronic gear in the studio and transmitter. Obviously little used and well taken care of. I acquired this mic from a collector who has had it for many years.
